Sisterhood Shabbat – A Celebration of Women in Judaism


If you are anywhere near the Houston area, come on by to Congregation Shaar Hashalom this Friday! We’ll be celebrating Jewish women as the CSH Sisterhood group puts on a unique Acoustic Shabbat!

It will feature beautiful prayer melodies written by Jewish female artists and highlight selected stories and readings of Women in Torah. I am very honored to be co-leading this service with the Sisterhood group and below are some of the artists whose melodies will be featured!

Sarah Edelstein:

Debbie Friedman:

Happie Hoffman:

From Austin Texas, Happie has been a songleader all over the US and in Israel. Check out her website HERE.

Elana Jagoda Kaye:

She’s a recording artist, educator, and Cantorial Soloist at Penninsula Temple Beth El in San Mateo, CA. Elana’s music is an uplifting and powerful blend of folk and world sounds. Find her HERE.

Robbi Sherwin:

She’s a Rabbi, Cantor, and a recording artist! Rockin’ Robbie Sherwin hails from Austin and you can find her HERE.

Abbie Strauss:

A fresh new voice in Jewish music, Abbie is the Music Director at Temple Israel in Memphis, TN. She is completing her 2nd album of Jewish music and a children’s album. Find her HERE.

Marcia Weinstein:

A singer/songwriter and educator, Marcia is the Cantorial Soloist at Congregation Mateh Chaim in Palm Bay, FL. Check out her website HERE.
